The Law of Attraction

We’ve all heard that what goes around comes around. If you treat others with respect and kindness, then the same will be returned. Living by this mantra, I have seen the ripple effect of my actions numerous times and I wanted to understand how simply thinking positively has the ability to manifest into positive outcomes. That is when I came across the Law of Attraction – a way of thinking that has changed my life forever.

The Law of Attraction is a belief that ‘like attracts like’. Whatever we focus our thoughts on, whether it is negative or positive, has the power to influence and shape our lives. In this sense, if you sit around contemplating negative events and possibilities, then negativity will shape your future. Alternatively, focusing on positive, kind, and optimistic thoughts will direct your actions differently and the outcomes will be far more favorable.  The Law of Attraction encourages us to reflect and actively shape our futures in the best possible way. Whatever we can imagine and put out into the world has the power to be returned if we focus and take action to achieve our goals.

While this may seem like a simple idea, putting it into practice may take some work. To begin, it is important to reflect on the things in your life that don’t bring you joy. If it is possible to change these things, now is the time. If something is bringing you negativity and does not need to be in your life, feel free to let it go. If it is something that can’t be changed, then look for one positive outcome and place your focus on that. For example, if school makes you feel stressed and anxious, structure your thoughts not on these negative feelings, but rather on the positive aspects of education such as your future job or the friends you have made.

Second, take time to analyze your goals, dreams, and visions. Since the Law of Attraction is structured around the actualization of thoughts, we must know what to focus our thoughts on. I recommended making a long and short-term list. My short-term goals usually revolve around relationships, school, travel, and other personal goals, while my long-term goals are more career and family-oriented. Making these goals more concrete by writing them down is a great way to monitor your successes and keep yourself on track.

Whether you are a firm believer that your destiny is set, or you prefer to think that your path is ever-changing, the Law of Attraction is a great way to better understand yourself and work towards your goals. Your thoughts are powerful – they have the ability to shape your experiences. Put out what you want to take in and your life will change in amazing ways.
