Justin Bieber is a global pop star. Love him or hate him, he’s never afraid to make a statement. With the release of his new album, Purpose, I thought it would be appropriate to share some thoughts in regards to the following: is Justin Bieber truly making a comeback?
The past few years have been difficult for Bieber and his devoted fangirls. Getting in trouble with the law, partying too often, producing mediocre music…you could say that he’s been through the wringer. What once started out as a promising career for an innocent, 12-year-old boy from Stratford, Ontario escalated into a life of money, fast cars, models, parties, drugs, you name it. Bieber’s volatile, on-off relationship with former child star Selena Gomez certainly didn’t help matters.
While I’m not a “Belieber” myself, and probably won’t ever be, I do have to admit that in some capacities, I feel sorry for Justin. Growing up in the spotlight is never an easy thing to do. With millions of people watching your every move, I can imagine that it would be very frustrating to be a normal teenager. On the same note, I also have to wonder whether it was Bieber’s influences that somehow contributed to his downward spiral. I’m not going to pretend that I understand every aspect of Justin Bieber’s life. However, I strongly believe that at some point, there must have been something or someone that led him astray.
Regardless of how I feel about Bieber, I do have to say that he seems to be turning his life around. There’s something about the way in which he is behaving that leads me to believe that this is truly the beginning of his comeback. Yes, it might be false hope. And yes, like many other embattled child stars before him, he could do a 180 and revert back to his old ways. Maybe the new album is serving as the catalyst for his newfound attitude. After all, it wouldn’t be a bad publicity stunt. New sound, new attitude…it all fits perfectly.
Whatever the case, as a fellow Canadian and music lover, I hope that Justin Bieber will one day be able to charm the world again with his personality and music. He was born to entertain; now it’s time to prove it.
