The New Year has just begun and with the welcome of 2015, the Ontario Beta chapter of the Pi Beta Phi fraternity cordially invites any interested young female individuals to their annual continuous ongoing bidding. The purpose of continuous ongoing bidding is for the chapter to find and welcome new girls who embody Pi Phi’s values to join our sisterhood. The first of four events was held at the chapter house yesterday late afternoon. It was during this event that the current sisters first met the potential new members (PNMs) and had a chance to get to know them better. Having gone through formal recruitment myself in September, I could definitely empathize with the PNMs and could “put myself in the shoes” as I was in the same position not so long ago. In addition, it was definitely a new experience for me, being on the other side of the situation and mingling with PNMs as opposed to with the active members. However, going through formal recruitment and choosing Pi Phi was one of the best decisions I have made since coming to Western. I have had the opportunity to meet girls from all different years and programs that I would probably not have the chance to meet if it was not for Pi Phi. I have met such wonderful people as each and every one Pi Phi embodies the fraternity’s six core value – integrity, lifelong commitment, honour and respect, personal and intellectual growth, philanthropic service to others, and sincere friendship – established by our twelve founders in 1867. Hence, on behalf of my chapter and my sisters, I welcome you all to attend the remaining three events and get to know us as well as the chapter even better. We are all looking forward to meeting each and every one of you!
