The Youth Connection

I want to introduce you all to an organization that’s very close to my heart: the Youth Connection!

This organization raises money to send school supplies to a school called DIF in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. The school is made up of children facing numerous struggles such as immigration issues, lack of birth certificates or visas, abuse at home, or homelessness. Another issue is that these students lack knowledge of the English language, which is almost essential to maintain a job in Mexico. So students from Western have the chance to go to Mexico in the summer and teach these children English!

Learn more about the organization at the website:

The Youth Connection has been hosting a few fun events and fundraisers on campus so far! Does anyone in first year Physics 1028A remember the pie thrown in Professor Zinke’s face? The Youth Connection was able to raise money through that awesome fundraiser!

Dr. Workentin promised to dress up in drag if his Organic Chemistry class donated $100, and his promise was kept!

The Youth Connection is currently selling line bypass bracelets, including cover charge, to the Ceeps for November 28th. They’re $5, and of course, the money goes towards school supplies and English lessons for students at DIF! If you’re 19+, this is a great way to help out a charity at Western.

If you want to purchase line bypass bracelets, get involved in volunteering for the organization, have a fundraising idea, or are interested in going on the Mexico trip, I’m on the executive team so, just shoot me a message at!
