If you ask me, a hearty warm breakfast is always a reason to get out of bed when your alarm starts blaring first thing in the morning!
Many people find that of all meals, they tend not to eat breakfast; whether they are too busy, out of time or just prefer to get a few extra minutes of sleep; breakfast is often not a priority.
I, however, am the complete! Breakfast is sometimes my favourite meal!
For that reason, I thought it would be great time to share a quick, but creative and tasty breakfast idea with all of you, in hopes of trying to recruit a few more breakfast lovers!
Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal
This is a favourite of mine!
All you need is:
1/3 cup oatmeal (preferably not ‘quick oats’)
1/3 + ¼ cup water
Dash of salt
1 tsp (or more!) of cinnamon
1 medium banana
1-2 tbsp peanut butter
Combine oats, water, salt and cinnamon in a microwave safe bowl.
Slice banana into wheels and add to oats. Stir to cover.
Microwave for about 4-5 minutes total. *However, I would HIGHLY recommend doing the microwaving in intervals. Why? Because the oats tend to puff up as they cook and may overflow if there is no break in the heating. Trust, me you don’t want to spend your morning scrubbing oats out of your microwave!
Once your oatmeal is done, add in the peanut butter and stir thoroughly. If you like thick oatmeal, let it sit for a little while before eating.
I often top my oats with milk to cool it down and throw on a few raspberries or strawberries if I have any on hand.
Voila! Peanut butter oatmeal!
