Hello! This is my very first post so let’s start off with a quick introduction.
I’m Jasmine, and I’m a first-year student in the Faculty of Information and Media studies. My favourite colour is purple (shocker), and I really enjoy hand-written letters, Polaroid pictures, ice-cream no matter the season, circle scarves, and the smell of fresh laundry (oh, that reminds me… I should do laundry soon.)
According to my countdown widget (which I forgot to delete off my phone after I moved in), it’s been 27 days since I’ve moved into my beautiful new home at Western University.
So much has happened these past few weeks, I don’t even know where to begin.
I guess I’ll start with right now. It’s Sunday night (aka national homework day), and I still have my 1700 MIT essay to write, statement of earnings to calculate for Business 1220, and Chinese characters to review for my Chinese course.
Oh, but I don’t want to give you the wrong impression! (Especially if you are reading this and you are a high school student).
University is about SO much more than just school work.
These past few weeks have been nothing but amazing. I’ve met so many cool people, joined interesting clubs, explored different parts of the London community…
For instance, just last week, (after an intimidating interview of 15 on 1), I became a Special Events Executive for the Chinese Students Association. This club (www.csauwo.com) has been around since the 1960’s, and organizes great events – from socials to study groups – for students to establish close connections with one other. I’ve only just joined, but I can already tell that it’s going to be a lot of fun!
Also, the London community actually has a lot of interesting places to visit and eat. I’ve been to the Covent Garden Market, the mall, and just yesterday, Urban Outfitters with my roommate. While shopping yesterday, we got really hungry so we wandered a little further down the street when we came across a little cafe serving sushi and bubble tea (exactly what I’ve been craving). The Works – a gourmet burger bistro – is also a must-try.
Oh! And let’s not forget that yesterday was homecoming! Purple everywhere! And there was even free street meat outside of Perth at night.
My floor also had a small dance-out in the lounge. It was really crammed in there, but fun.
Does this post seem like it’s everywhere? So sorry.
It’s just that too much has happened. University really is one great big adventure. But I don’t want to overwhelm you with all my stories – in fact, my head is a little overwhelmed trying to recall everything’s that happened. Guess I’ll just save it for another post!
And with that, I guess it’s back to calculating projected statements of earnings. Or maybe I’ll go over to Essex Hall and get my friend to help me. Then maybe he can cook me some food too.
